Best time to Book your Session!
“To the attentive eye, each moment of the year has its own beauty, and in the same fields, it beholds, every hour, a picture which was never seen before, and which shall never be seen again.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
The time of year to have book your session is probably the first thing you will decide about a session, besides choosing a photographer of course. Maybe you are about to start your Senior Year of High School, or maybe you are going to finally get that family session planned and send out Christmas Cards this year.....if so, you might be wondering when is the best time to book your session? If this is your concern, then it's time to start thinking about what kind of images you like. There are definitely some logistics that go into getting just the look you like.....even when you aren't sure yet.....it's our job to help you find out those answers.
It might seem like this is a silly thing to be talking about, but every year I get requests for vibrant green warm outdoor images, in November.......Or a fun water session in February........if it's not something that you think about or work with daily, this really isn't so obvious to you when it comes time to book. If you are a high school senior and want an image for your Yearbook, it's best to have at least one session before the end of November. Add on sessions are always available to round out your experience, if you are really wanting a Winter or Spring look.
While I LOVE a Challenge, and try to make everyones photo dreams come true......there are certain seasonal factors that just cannot be "faked in photoshop" so I really hope these examples and explanation of our Southern Idaho Seasons will help you in making your next photo session just that more easy to plan!
SUMMER
Are you a Summer person, who loves to have fun in the sun? Beautiful Wild Flowers, or are you a water baby at heart who would love to end your session in the water? If so, then Summer is the time to book your Session! We can usually extend the Summer look clear into the middle of Sept, but if we have cooler weather and the leaves start to change you are going to miss out on those fun Summer looks! The best time to get images like this are June / July / August (at the time of this post we currently have 5 Summer Sessions Left!)
Fall
Everyone in Idaho seems to adore the Fall! Besides Pumpkin Spiced everything......the crisp air, the color and our gorgeous Idaho Sunsets........Fall Outfits are to die for! Cute boots, jackets, and fun layers always photograph amazingly. Sports are in Full Swing so seniors have their uniforms/jerseys, and family outings have slowed down enough to get everyone together for portraits. Every year our Fall Color is different and can be unpredictable so we make special note if you specifically are looking for Fall Color and try our best to accommodate your needs. Our Fall Season for photos can start in September or October, and even extend into November sometimes. (at the time of this post most of October is booked so if you would like Fall photos call early to book a slot.)
Winter
In Idaho, you either LOVE Winder or you don't! I love images with fresh snow falls and frost covered trees, the tricky part to capturing that is the temperatures....so I will brave the cold with you as love as your cheeks don't turn red and fingers go numb LOL If the temps drop down in the lower 30's or 20's you can expect to have your session rescheduled however....partially due to my camera's battery power drains quickly in those cold temperatures. To offset the discomfort of snow photos the Brink has it's very own snow machine ;) We can create some stunning indoor our outdoor images with real looking snowflakes for you while you are nice and toasty! Winter images are taken at the very end of November and through the first part of February.
Spring
Springtime Seasonal looks are tricky in Idaho! While the spring blossoms can be absolutely gorgeous here, the time frame is very short....some years they are non existent even. Sometimes it seems we go from the cold straight to 90 degree weather in our high desert landscape. There are two - three weeks generally (sometimes longer) that we can capture beautiful blossoms for your portraits, so book this session look early in the year so we can save you a spot. Spring sessions are usually add on sessions for our high school seniors, since this is the time of year their main portraits should already be finished and we are just adding on some images just before graduation. Spring Sessions are typically booked from the middle of March - April for seniors and into May for Families
Indoor Looks
No matter what the season or weather outside, I love that we can offer one of a kind, fun images. From Traditional Portraits - to fun Fashion / Commercial looking images you can book indoor sessions anytime of year, however December/January/and June are very busy indoors so definitely plan ahead for those 3 months.
I hope this article will help you start the process of determining when is the best time of year for you to book your portrait session. You may even decide you want to capture every season!
